I named my blog Impressions because it’s a word that often comes up in how I think about my work. As an old-world immigrant exploring a new-world landscape, my photographs reflect my impressions of my new home - my way of making sense of my surroundings while also searching for familiar traces of the home I left behind.

At the Edge of Empire
A couple of months ago, Nate and I left our house in Pawling, New York for the last time and set off into the unknown. We now live near Hadrian’s Wall, it’s simply spectacular!! The nearest section to my new home snakes along the dramatic cliffs and crags of the Whin Sill and dares you not to stop every few hundred yards to grab your camera. Here are my first impressions of this amazing area…..
