I named my blog Impressions because it’s a word that often comes up in how I think about my work. As an old-world immigrant exploring a new-world landscape, my photographs reflect my impressions of my new home - my way of making sense of my surroundings while also searching for familiar traces of the home I left behind.

This blog is more than just a blog. It’s a place where I share my impressions of the world through my camera. I hope you enjoy it.

Rime Ice and Alpenglow

After a beautiful hike in the dark we made it to Giant Ledge about 20 mins before sunrise, got a brew going and settled in for the show. Nothing had prepared us for what was to follow. As the sun started to appear over the horizon magic happened and over the next 7 minutes one of the most breathtaking sunrises that I’ve ever had the privilege to witness unfolded right in front of us. From forecast to frame: A blog about the photo hike that delivered!

Last Winter, hiking and backpacking in the Catskills taught me so much about landscape photography as well as working more efficiently in the cold.
